Request for Collaboration:

Employee Wellness Program Health Outcomes Specialist

In 2026, Strategic Action Health is launching a cutting-edge wellness initiative called Health Shift Year with a large organizational partner.

Based on scaled concepts found in the Health Shift book, this layered thought-design strategy is not currently found in conventional wellness programs.

Unlike typical wellness programs, which emphasize participation metrics such as steps walked or screenings completed, Health Shift strategy enhances employees’ capacity for better health decisions — an innovation in workplace health promotion.

This initiative integrates proprietary tools and challenges designed to create measurable improvements in health mindset, strategic thinking, collaborative health style, and core health practices.

Because of the novel and proprietary nature of this project, selected partners will be asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) before full details are shared.

We are currently seeking an Employee Wellness Program Health Outcomes Specialist on a project basis, paid on an hourly basis.

This position opening closes on October 31, 2025, or until filled.

Project Components

The program includes several key elements:

  • Health Intelligence Assessment (HIA): A proprietary instrument that measures four domains (health mindset, strategic thinking, collaborative health style, and core health practices) and contains 11 cognitive constructs on the back end.

  • Health Shift Challenge: A program built around HIA results that engages employees in improving health decision-making.

  • Core 4 Challenge: An introspective 4-week program that helps employees explore how they think about and approach the four foundational health practices — exercise, nutrition, hydration, and sleep. By reflecting on beliefs, habits, and barriers, participants gain new awareness that leads to more intentional, sustainable choices.

Scope of Work

We are seeking an Applied Health Outcomes Specialist or similar, or academic research collaborator to:

Psychometric Tools

  • Identify and select validated psychometric measures to complement the HIA, especially around health literacy and health decision-making.

  • Ensure alignment of measures with constructs already embedded in the HIA.

Evaluation Design

  • Develop a pre/post evaluation framework to assess outcomes across the HIA, Health Shift Challenge, and Core 4 Challenge.

  • Recommend best practices for data collection using surveys, interviews, and behavioral assessments.

Measurement & Analysis

  • Establish methods to demonstrate shifts in thinking and decision-making among employees.

  • Conduct data collection, analysis, and reporting to produce actionable insights.

  • Translate findings into reports usable for organizational stakeholders, with potential for future case study publication.

Desired Expertise

  • Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in health psychology, public health, evaluation science, or related field.

  • Experience with psychometric testing and outcomes evaluation.

  • Strong skills in data analysis, survey research, and statistical methods.

  • IRB experience is a plus (although this project does not require IRB approval at this time, familiarity with the process will enhance future publication potential).

  • Ability to balance academic rigor with practical application for organizational use.

Project Goal

The primary objective is to generate usable insights and numbers that demonstrate measurable changes in how employees think about and approach their health.

These insights will inform future strategies, communication, and long-term program development — advancing the field of workplace wellness by focusing on decision-making capacity rather than participation alone.

Next Steps

Interested researchers or institutions are invited to submit a brief statement of interest outlining:

  • Relevant qualifications and experience.

  • Examples of prior work with psychometrics, evaluation frameworks, or health literacy/decision-making measures.

  • Perspective on how you would approach the balance between applied evaluation (in-house use) and potential publication (case study, academic article).

We are reviewing statements of interest on a rolling basis and encourage early response to allow time for planning and alignment. We look forward to engaging with researchers who share our vision and to partnering with the right institution to advance this pioneering initiative.

If this sounds like you, we’d like to hear from you.

Thank you for your time and interest.
